About Diamonds

Diamonds have always been valuable and costly, but in the middle ages, they were treasured more for their hardness than for their beauty. Also, and interestingly enough, at that time they were mostly only worn by men.

However, around the fifteenth century, things began to change, all the way up till today, when a wide variety of symbolisms are evoked with just a mention of this mineral. Finally, and possibly with partial thanks to the consumer revolution, women were permitted to possess diamonds, which may be why beauty began to replace hardness as the standard of a diamond’s value.

Diamonds, once simply a natural crystalline substance, have come to exemplify wealth, prosperity, status, and everlasting love. In some way, both mystical and historical, they have also come to embody the deepest human expressions of purity, strength, and eternity.
